Woa! BLOG!

MY FIRST BLOG!!! Let us validate that. Hahaha. Anyways, I was never a big fan of blogs. Perhaps, after this class, my mind will be changed. I am going to be positive about this, and try to put a lot of effort into this blog. I do not watch much television or movies and I do not really play many video games. I am really hoping this class will get me more involved technologically.

This weekend, I went to visit my boyfriend Jacob. We played “Rock Band” all day. We had a TON of fun, and it left me thinking about ways to incorporate things like video games into my classroom. One of my goals is to try to keep up with what my students are into whether it is video games, movies television… etc… and try to incorporate them into my lesson somehow. It is important for educators to stay “hip” and know current trends so the class can be interesting.

  1. I agree that as teachers we have to find ways to engage students in the classroom. When I was in elementary school, the only video game that I remember playing in the classroom was Oregon Trail (does that count?). I looked a little online about how teachers can use video games in the classroom, and cnn.com came up with a lot of articles. Using video games in the classroom seems to be a pretty hot topic! Here is one article that sparked my interest.

  2. I agree that I was a little apprehensive about blogging as well. And I also worry about trying to stay "hip" with my students. haha I also have noticed that for some reason, my students either think I am their age or really old. This is a little disturbing to me. Hopefully I can find a happy medium. And I never really thought about incorporating video games into my classroom. I am not a huge fan, but I am sure there are video games for all levels that can have educational potential. That was a really great idea you brought up and I will have to look into it. Thanks!
